EAH Housing is proud to be a part of the solution to high housing costs, long commutes and sprawl, and part of the long-term answer to many additional challenges that our country faces today. Together with community volunteers and supporters, we play a leadership role in local, regional and national housing advocacy efforts.
Staggering home and rental prices are impacting the cultural diversity of our communities and affecting the ability of people from different backgrounds to exchange views and contribute to the spirit and life of the region. We care about what is lost if the people who provide critical local services are no longer able to afford to live in our communities.
EAH provides many resources in its ongoing commitment to help shape public policy. We keep people informed about housing possibilities, provide outreach to communities to learn about their needs, and give people opportunities for involvement in long-term solutions.
EAH also enjoys an excellent reputation with its residents through open lines of communication and a responsive staff, both locally on-site and through our regional offices. The residents of communities managed by EAH represent diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds with many resident groups requiring translation services for written and verbal communication into multiple languages. EAH also actively encourages the formation and involvement of resident's councils at all complexes.
EAH offers an array of programs and support services for residents including Big Brother/Big Sister programs, English as a Second Language classes, civic classes to obtain citizenship, job training, drug education, tax preparation, and training at our computer learning centers that we pioneered with funding from HUD and other sources.
We firmly believe that affordable housing is the cornerstone to all catastrophic and social justice issues. Without a roof over your head—you cannot get a job, enroll in school, vote, file your taxes or cook for your family. Affordable housing is the foundation to a new life.
